Lesson resources for the FutureQuest session on AI
Lesson Outline
In this lesson, students will explore the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it shapes the digital world around them, looking at examples from recommendation systems for adverts to chatbots like ChatGPT. Students will learn what data is, why AI is used, and how machines learn through supervised learning (regression and classification) and unsupervised learning (clustering). They’ll take part in interactive activities in which they attempt to cluster and analyse data and compare their outcomes with those of AI systems. The lesson also explores real-world applications, the benefits of AI, issues such as bias, and what responsible AI use looks like in practice. Students should leave with an introductory understanding of AI, with a greater perception of both the harms and benefits of AI systems.
